Accommodation

Many of the original features remain in the 16th Century part of the buiding, a large open fireplace dominates the lounge, a perfect setting for a warm and cosy afternoon.

 

We have two large dining room for residents to use and residents are encouraged to invite family members to join them.  We also promote families and friends to use our lounges and gardens for family celebrations and gatherings.

 

The bedrooms are light and fully furnished, with ensuite facilities.  Residents can bring their own furniture in to personalise their rooms to make them feel more homely, favourite pictures. photos etc.

 

The staff at the Old Malthouse are selected for their experience, compassion and ability to listen and communicate with those in their care. We work closely with social workers, and have a good working relationship with the GP practice, and we are able to act quickly if  you need to see a GP or other health professionals.

 

We offer a holistic approach to your care needs.  This means we cater to all your physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs.  We will sit with you and your family on admission to discuss your likes and preferences, and care plans will be tailored accordingly.  

 

We have a 6 month formal feedback questionnaire, and welcome honest feedback in order to help us to continue to improve on the excellent service we offer.

 

Facilities

A hairdresser visits weekly, which gives residents the opportunity to maintain their appearance.  Nikki offers haircuts, perms, wash and blowdrys etc 

 

The Chiropodist visits every 6 weeks, but can visit upon request

 

Dentist and Opticians can be arrange upon request

 

Activities

The Old Malthouse is very proud of the activities on offer.

 

We employ dedicated activities coordinators who are passionate in ensuring our activity schedule stimulates both mentally and physically.  

 

Activities are offered in group settings or on a 1-1 basis, and we often have external entertainers providing activities. 

 

We access the local community regularly, with residents attending the "Shop" in the village, which is a Cafe for locals living with Dementia.  Residents also visit the local churches, the seaside, shops and community shows 

 

The activities coordinators will discuss your likes and preferences on admission, and tailor activities accordingly.
